FAQs
What materials do you use?
At Trinket Cove, we use mainly 14k gold-plated, gold-filled and sterling silver findings in our handmade pieces, which are tarnish-resistant. We also feature Swarovski pearls, crystals and semi-precious stones.
What is the difference between gold-plated and gold-filled?
Gold-plated and gold-filled materials differ in the way that gold is applied over the base metals. A small amount of karat gold is coated over the base metal through an electrochemical process to produce gold-plated items.
Gold-filled items are created when a thick sheet of gold is mechanically bonded with the base metal.
Gold-plated jewelry reacts more easily than gold-filled items to salts in human skin and pollutants in the air, thus gold-filled jewellery tends to withstand wear and tear better.
What if I am allergic to certain metals?
If you are allergic to certain metals and would like to have them replaced, please email us at enquiries@trinketcove.com before placing your order and we will get back to you within 3 working days. Additional costs may apply.
How do I care for my jewellery?
We use mainly tarnish resistant materials in our handmade pieces, however to retain the shine on your pieces, please
- Avoid contact with moisture and perfumes
- Clean gently with soft fabric but avoid rubbing
- Polish sterling silver pieces with a silver polishing cloth
